“‘see u in a year’ is about a period of communicating via art, but not via online presence. the communication or presence that would usually be found within a digital source of algorithm or engagement, is found via the artwork itself: we aren’t creating art for the ‘gram, or social media. but merely living life, and then depositing art into the atmosphere of the internet: for remote viewers, or for people who can’t see the art in person. this collection is where I figure out this space of living life fully, but also utilizing modern technology as a tool of communicating whatever it is at the time of creating said piece. we’re not living to post art on social media, or create social media art. it’s a tool. but real life is the the inspiration, and i’m not living vicariously online. I have my own life. this is connection, but also distance to live one’s own life where one’s own real life inspiration is the footing behind the art. we’re not trying to live online. online is a tool. use it wisely.”
